How do you start each morning? We are all creatures of habit….hopefully yours are healthy ones! As a nutritionist, I find that most clients consume one of three beverages upon rising. What’s yours?

  • Coffee?

Get holistic! Eliminate milk and sugar by swapping for something new!

Trying to kick coffee? Switch to ‘DANDYBLEND’. The benefits of dandelion are tremendous!

  • Water?

I recommend adding lemon which helps put the body in an alkaline state. Apple cider or coconut vinegar are both nature’s probiotics. They help balance and heal the digestive system.

  • Tea?

Green tea wins in popularity. It’s full of polyphenols that act as anti-oxidants. Most green tea love is due to studies linked to weight loss!

My morning beverage is not so well known. I’m hoping to shed light on this ancient and soon to be trending tree! My mornings are all about MORINGA or moringa oleifera in formal terms! It is sometimes referred to as the drumstick tree.

I am in love with what has been called the “most nutrient dense plant on earth” by many. With over 90 nutrients, MORINGA is on my personal super food list. Its taste is reminiscent of the perfect blend of matcha and green tea!

MORINGA is native to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. It can also be found in Africa, Taiwan and the Philippines. With increasing awareness and education, MORINGA is gaining in popularity. Hawaii, a dry and sandy island is the latest ideal location for crops!

I’m going to call MORINGA ‘wholistic’ since the ‘whole’ plant is ‘holisitic’.

Immature pods or drumsticks are boiled typically and eaten as any vegetable. They are high in fiber, magnesium and manganese.

Seeds are eaten in the same fashion as green peas. They can be roasted as well. Oil extracted from seeds is used to purify water.

Roots are used as a condiment. The roots are also dried and crushed to fill capsules.

MORINGA leaves make the perfect cold or hot tea. Switch up salads! Fresh leaves are comparable to spinach! Dried MORINGA leaves can be used to flavor sauces and soups.

MORINGA flowers are even edible!

MORINGA’S healthy profile is comprised of over 40 antioxidants, 36 anti-inflammatories and 18 amino acids (9 essentials). It’s astounding what a well kept secret MORINGA has been.

There are some nutrients that deserve noting.

  • Long list of various B vitamins
  • Vitamin C
  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Manganese
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Sodium
  • ZInc

*With all these nutrients it’s no wonder it MAY be helpful for so many conditions!

  • Asthma
  • Inflammation
  • Pain relief
  • High blood pressure
  • Eye sight
  • Lowering cholesterol
  • Aging
  • Circulation
  • Edema (water retention)
  • Weight loss
  • Increasing energy
  • Diabetes
  • Sleep disorders
  • Ulcers
  • Skin conditions
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Malnutrition in infants and nursing mothers
  • Aid Immune system

Moringa oil has been used in many countries as a water purifier.

I am in love with MORINGA TEA. It’s legacy comes from a holistic history claiming to cure over 300 diseases.

Gram per gram MORINGA leaves contain:

  • 10x more Vitamin A than carrots
  • 17x more calcium than milk
  • 15x more potassium than bananas
  • 25x the iron of spinach
  • 9x the protein of yogurt
  • 4x the cholorphyll of wheat grass
  • 8x the polyphenols of red wine

By adding MORINGA powder to my smoothie or fresh juice and drinking tea….I’m taking charge of my health.

On top of the health benefits I am making a difference in the world. I am thrilled www.cocovienaturals takes part in helping others.

My organic MORINGA TEA is produced in association with Green Earth Heritage Foundation. The foundation came into being May of 2009. It all started with 100 hectares of land “ravaged by illegal deforestation and environmental neglect”. All the proceeds from the tea helps GREEN EARTH assist the community. The money helps grow their farming community while addressing illiteracy and hunger.

Xo Healthy inside and out!
